Privacy Policy
Vision Sudoku · Last updated 8 September 2026
Vision Sudoku (“the app”) is designed to respect your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles information.
Information we collect
Vision Sudoku does not require an account and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contacts. Only two kinds of anonymous data ever leave your device: crash and error diagnostics, which are always on so we can fix problems (see Crash and error reporting), and usage analytics, which are collected only if you choose to turn them on (see Usage analytics).
Camera and photos
The app uses your camera and photo library only to read a Sudoku puzzle you choose to scan. Images are processed entirely on your device to recognize the grid and digits. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party — and are never included in crash reports — and the app does not retain them beyond what is needed to create the puzzle.
On-device storage
Your saved games and settings are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is removed if you delete the app.
Crash and error reporting
When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, so we can find and fix the problem. These reports contain technical information only — such as the error message and stack trace, your device model, operating-system version, and the app version. They do not contain your name, email, your puzzle photos, or the contents of your saved games, and they are not used for advertising or tracking. Sentry processes this data on our behalf and stores it on servers in the European Union; see Sentry’s privacy policy.
Usage analytics
Analytics are opt-in. The first time you open the app you are asked whether to share anonymous usage data, and nothing is collected unless you agree. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Usage analytics; turning it off stops collection immediately.
If you opt in, the app records a small set of anonymous events — that a puzzle was imported, opened, or solved, and that a hint was used — along with coarse details such as whether the puzzle was a standard or samurai grid, its difficulty, and which solving technique a hint used. An anonymous identifier is used to group one device’s events together. These events do not contain your name, email, your puzzle photos, or the contents of your puzzles. The app does not record your screen. This data is processed by PostHog on our behalf and stored on servers in the European Union; see PostHog’s privacy policy.
Third parties
The app does not display ads and does not use any advertising or ad-tracking services, and we never sell your data. It uses two third-party services, both acting on our behalf and both storing data in the European Union: Sentry for crash and error reporting, and PostHog for the opt-in usage analytics described above.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
